There’s nothing like caring for someone one-on-one in their own home. The lasting relationships you build with clients and their families are a big part of what VON offers — and a big part of what helps clients to heal and stay healthy.

- After you graduate, consider one of the many different job opportunities at VON. Between home care, home support and community support services, we offer more than 50 different programs and services across Ontario and Nova Scotia.
Make a difference in your community
- VON is a registered charity that provides care based on need, not ability to pay. A placement with VON means you’re helping vulnerable clients and their families to live their best lives in the safety and comfort of their own homes and communities.
Gain hands-on, real-world experience
- At VON, no two days are ever the same. You’ll work alongside our knowledgeable and professional staff, caring for clients of all ages with a range of conditions, giving you the chance to develop strong clinical reasoning skills.
In partnership with our affiliated schools, we offer placement for the following programs:
- NP
- BSCN
- RPN/LPN
- PSW/CCA
- Other (SSW, Medical Admin)
- We provide e-learning for all students
- Pair students with a trained preceptor
- Provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

- Good academic standing with your school
- Clear Criminal Background Check
- Clear TB test
- Signed Confidentiality agreement
- Can read and write in English

| Vulnerable Sector Check (VSS) in Ontario and Nova Scotia | Clear VSS and updated according to the frequency determined by the program. |
| Clear Child Abuse Registry Screening in Nova Scotia | Clear Child Abuse Registry screen and updated according to the frequency determined by the program. |
| TB Testing | As required by the educational program. |
| Mask Fit Testing | If students do not have mask fit testing and there is no capacity at the site to complete it, students are not permitted to be present during aerosol-generating medical procedures. |
| Other childhood immunizations | As required by the educational program. |
Educational institutions will confirm that the student has met these requirements. Should an item not be required by the educational program prior to placement, the student will need to obtain the item prior to placement with VON Canada at the student's expense.
