Our exercise and fall prevention classes help improve strength, balance and heart health while reducing both social isolation and hospital visits relating to falls.
Staying active is an important part of staying healthy and independent. Our group exercise classes teach seniors and adults with disabilities how to be safe, keep moving and improve strength and balance at any fitness level. These classes are ideal for clients who find it hard to take part in traditional exercise classes due to low mobility or poor health.
The gentle yet progressive classes are led by a certified VON fitness instructor and/or volunteer.
Group exercise classes really are for everyone! We offer low-, moderate- and high-mobility classes, and the class format can easily be modified for different levels of mobility and ability. You have the option to use a chair for a portion of the class — in fact, our classes can be done seated or standing! We also offer specialty classes for individuals living with Parkinson’s, MS and acquired brain injury/stroke.
Many locations include an educational component, in which we discuss the common reasons for falls and teach appropriate intervention strategies to reduce those risks.
We offer classes in the community, at retirement homes or via Zoom.
