VON Continuing Care Assistant (CCA) and clients take part in NS safety campaign
Earlier this year VON was invited to participate in a safety campaign entitled Better Safety Better Care – a collaborative project between the Nova Scotia Departments of Seniors and Long-term Care and Labour, Skills and Immigration, as well as the Workers’ Compensation Board of Nova Scotia, Aware-NS and various home care and long-term care providers in Nova Scotia. The campaign highlights the important connection between the safety of care providers and their ability to provide safe care to those who need it.
VON Continuing Care Assistant, Ardyth Robinson, along with a few VON clients and their families, participated in filming portions of home support care in the clients’ homes and were also interviewed about the importance of safety from their individual perspectives. “We had such a great team for this project, with the support of VON staff and leadership, our generous clients and the filming company – everyone gave their best. I sincerely hope that we have a project that can be a useful teaching tool,” said Ardyth.
The campaign was launched in February and includes resources for sector leaders, care providers and clients and their families. You can watch the two videos that Ardyth and our clients are featured in here and here.
