A Message from the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia

A Message from the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia

As The King’s representative in Nova Scotia, it is my great pleasure to celebrate VON Week and to recognize the dedicated staff and volunteers of VON Greater Halifax who provide essential care to Nova Scotians every day.

This year’s theme, At the Heart of Care, is a fitting tribute to the compassion, skill, and commitment that define VON’s work. Across our province, VON caregivers are a lifeline for individuals and families, offering essential health services, comfort, and support in times of need. Whether providing home nursing care, respite for caregivers, or community-based wellness programs, VON’s impact is profound and far-reaching.

VON Week is an opportunity to reflect on the invaluable role these professionals and volunteers play in our healthcare system. Their dedication not only enhances quality of life for those they serve but also strengthens the fabric of our communities. It is through their
tireless efforts that many Nova Scotians can remain in their homes
and familiar environments while receiving the care.

To all members of the VON team—your work does not go unnoticed. You are at the heart of care in our province, and your contributions make a difference every single day. On behalf of all Nova Scotians, I extend my deepest gratitude and appreciation for your dedication.

I encourage everyone to take part in this year’s celebration and to recognize the vital work of VON in regions across the province.

Mike Savage, ONS
Lieutenant Governor
