May 8 – 14 is National Nursing Week
National Nursing Week 2023 kicks off on May 8 this year – and this year, the Canadian Nurses Association is picking up the theme developed by the International Council of Nurses: “Our Nurses. Our Future.”
According to the Canadian Nurses Association, “This theme showcases the many roles that nurses play in a patient’s health-care journey. The pandemic brought to light the courage and commitment that nurses work under every day and showed the important role that nurses play in the community.”

The purpose of National Nursing Week is to increase awareness among the public, policy-makers and governments of the many contributions of nursing to the well-being of Canadians. It is also an opportunity to educate Canadians about health issues, by providing information they need to make decisions about their health, and to promote the role of the nurse.
