Letter from Her Honour The Honourable Edith Dumont, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario

Edith Dumont, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario

In recognition of Victorian Order of Nurses Week, I wish to extend my congratulations to the staff and volunteers for providing care in communities for 128 years.

At the Heart of Care is more than a theme. It captures the spirit that guides the work of the Victorian Order of Nurses teams across the province. Every day, devoted staff and volunteers help young families adjust to new routines, support people through recovery, and enable elders to remain at home with dignity. Your work provides comfort, stability, and reassurance where it is needed most.

Care is not only about what is done—it is about how it is done. The dedication of nurses, personal support workers, volunteers, and coordinators bring compassion, patience, and empathy into the lives they touch. Their presence reminds us that the kindness, respect, and sense of responsibility they embody reflect the values
we share across Ontario, and the hopes we hold for stronger, more
caring communities.

Edith Dumont
