A Letter to our Volunteers

April 27 – May 3, 2025 is National Volunteer Week
National Volunteer Week is a time to honour the dedicated individuals who share their time, compassion and skills to help others in need. This year’s theme—developed by Volunteer Canada— is “Volunteers Make Waves.” It highlights the power, impact and importance of individual and collective volunteer efforts across Canada. Like a wave, volunteering is movement building.
We look forward to celebrating VON’s exceptional volunteers this National Volunteer Week. We could not make the impact we are making in our communities without our volunteers, who contribute to our teams at all levels of the organization.
To our volunteers, your contributions—big or small—are together creating a wave of positive change. Your commitment to helping our clients live safely in their homes and communities makes a real difference in thousands of lives every day. Your actions also influence and inspire others to join a wave of positive change.
We are pleased to recognize and celebrate you this week. In whatever way you support our mission— delivering nourishing meals to clients, supporting bereaved individuals, serving on committees or fundraising to expand programs and services—you are an essential member of our team.
Thank you for giving freely of your time with no expectation to receive anything in return except the knowledge that our clients’ lives are better because of you. And thank you for being a key contributor to the home and community care sector.
With gratitude,
Monique Porlier Jo‐Anne Poirier
Chair, Board of Directors President and Chief Executive Officer
