Wondering What to Do Following the Death of a Loved One; and Income Tax Basics with CRA and Service Canada

The first half of this 1.5 hour information session will cover survivor benefits within the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Old Age Security (OAS) for individuals who have lost a spouse, parent, or common-law partner. Participants will learn about eligibility, the application process, benefit amounts, tax implications, and how to manage affairs after a bereavement.

The second half of this session will cover the basics of income taxes form start to finish. This portion of the session will go over the different sections of the tax return and how they impact our final tax balance. Participants will also be advised of how to be prepared for tax season, the various ways to file taxes and services available through the CRA.
