David joined VON as General Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer in May 2026. He previously worked with the Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority (RHRA) in roles including Senior Manager of Legal and Enforcement, Senior Legal Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer.
He brings a wealth of experience spanning regulatory and administrative law, health law, litigation, privacy, not-for-profit corporate law and contracts, employment law, and strategic policy. David has extensive, practical knowledge of Ontario’s interconnected health and community care ecosystem.
In addition to his professional work, David is a board member for Project Canoe, a charity offering therapeutic and educational outdoor programming to youth facing barriers. He is committed to advancing youth wellbeing and community engagement.
David holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Philosophy, and History from McGill University and a Juris Doctor from Queen’s University. He is licensed to practice law through the Law Society of Ontario.
When he's not working, David loves spending time with his family, cycling, and canoe camping throughout Ontario.
