Marilyn Macdonald is the Associate Director, Graduate Studies, Dalhousie School of Nursing. She brings expertise in clinical nursing, nursing education and patient safety to the VON Board of Directors.
Marilyn is a professor and associate director of graduate studies in the School of Nursing (SoN) at Dalhousie University. Her clinical nursing background includes general surgery, cardio-vascular surgery, public-health nursing, home care and a decade as a clinical nurse specialist.
Marilyn established a program of research focused on patient safety and home care and was a member of the research team for the Pan-Canadian Safety at Home study. She is a director with the Joanna Briggs Institute Centre of Excellence, for which she is a certified reviewer. She is also the theme lead for transitions in care with the Canadian Frailty Network.
