The Nova Scotia Nurses’ Union (NSNU) nsnu.ca is a professional union representing approximately 6,500 Licensed Practical Nurses, Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners in Nova Scotia’s hospitals, long term care facilities, adult residential centers, VON branches and Canadian Blood Services Centres.
As a member organization of the Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions, we join with our 176,000 nurse colleagues across Canada to give a voice to nurses’ and patients’ concerns aimed at both protecting and improving the health care system. As a union, the NSNU negotiates collective agreements with employers and represents its members in labour issues. We are the only union in Nova Scotia dedicated exclusively to representing nurses in their workplaces, and we strive to ensure that nursing’s position on health care issues and developments is effectively communicated to the general public. NSNU is the bargaining agent certified to represent nurses’ employment matters that arise under the Collective Agreement between the Union and the Employer.
