How can I honour a VON nurse or volunteer who I feel deserves recognition?
Donors who wish to pay tribute to a VON staff member or volunteer who has touched their lives by providing special care to themselves or loved ones can do so by designating their gift as a “Tribute”. Tribute gifts allow individuals to dedicate a tax-deductible donation to a VON member who they feel deserves special recognition for their efforts. The VON staff member or volunteer will receive notification from VON Canada advising them that a tribute gift has been made in their honour. Click here to make a tribute gift now!
Can I direct my donation to a particular VON site or program?
Yes. You may choose to designate your donation to a specific site, region or program of your choice, or you may allow VON to use the funds in the area of most need. You can also request that part of your gift be directed to one area and part to another area of need.
How can I claim tax benefits on my donation?
As a registered charitable organization, VON Canada issues tax receipts for all donations $10 and over, except for sponsorship contributions or registrations to an event. Is VON Canada a government agency?
No, VON Canada is a registered charity. Although some programs are government-funded and/or supported by United Way, VON relies on donations and sponsorships to ensure that care is available to those in need.
How are the donations used?
Funds raised by VON Canada are used to start new programs or enhance existing services that meet health and social needs in communities, support VON staff education, and initiate research in home and community care. Your donation will make a real difference to those in need of community services and home care, and will ensure that VON is able to continue providing care to you, your family and friends when and where they are needed.
