In addition to nursing care, VON nurses and staff offer a variety of community support programs and services that assist you with your health, nutrition and lifestyle choices. Our dedicated team of professionals are fully knowledged on all the services provided by VON and you are encouraged to ask them at any time of a service you may need to maintain the best quality of life at home. We are here for you.

Community support programs and services include:

In-Home Nursing Care includes:

+/- In-Home Nursing Care

Wound Care

VON nurses support clients with a variety of wounds including those from surgery and trauma as well as chronic wounds.

End of Life (Palliative) Care

VON nurses support clients who wish to pass away at home. They also provide support for families and caregivers.

Intravenous Care

IV therapy is available at home. VON nurses can provide a wide range of intravenous care.

Respiratory Care

VON nurses provide ongoing care for clients with chronic obstructive lung disease, emphysema, cystic fibroses and other respiratory conditions.

Flu Clinic

Workplace flu clinics are offered, as requested, by a VON licensed practical nurse (LPN) to offices and organizations across metro Cape Breton.

Foot Care Clinic

The VON foot care clinic has specially trained nurses who assess and treat all your foot care needs. Care includes: Clipping and filing of toe nails, treatment of corns and calluses, in-grown nails and thickened nails, preventive foot care for high risk clients with diabetes, arthritis and circulation problems, referrals to doctors, podiatrists or other health professionals as necessary and foot care education. Clinics are offered weekly (Wednesday) at the Sydney site.

DNA and TB testing

DNA and TB testing is provided, as requested, by a VON Nurse.

Pre-travel Immunization

VON offers immunizations and information you need to protect yourself when traveling internationally. Clinics are offered weekly (Thursdays) at the Sydney site.

Wellness Clinic

Whether your office is launching an internal wellness program or revamping an existing program, our VON nurses have the expertise and experience to assist you in reaching your health and wellness goals.
