SERVICES PROVIDED: Footcare Clinics at location of customers choice, provided by Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses, with basic & advanced footcare training. Footcare for private-pay individuals and Veterans Affairs clients can be arranged by calling the VON Office.
SERVICE COMPONENTS:
* A minimum of 4 clients per Footcare Clinic
* Assessment and physical examination of the foot
* Foot care includes:
(i) Care and cutting of normal nails
(ii) Callous care
(iii) In-grown nail care
(iv) Basic health information related to the anatomy of the foot, including differences related to age
(v) Discussion related to high risk problems
(vi) Client education related to buying shoes and characteristics of a good shoe
(vii) Referral to physician / chiropodist
(viii) Link to community resources
COSTS: Fees available, upon request.
VON meets the highest Health Canada Infection Control Standards and autoclaves (steam under pressure) all foot care instruments to protect the safety of our clients and staff
