+/- Bereavement Support

Coping with the death of someone close to you is a struggle, but there is help.  VON Oxford Bereavement Support is available.  We offer Group, Individual or Family support sessions at no charge.  

 

Family and Individual sessions are assessed and scheduled on an individual basis and are directed according to the needs of the client.

 

Group sessions are 1.5 hours and run  for 6 weeks. Pre-registration is required.  Sessions take place at Sakura House, Oxford County Rd 4  #715180, Woodstock Ontario.  Weekly topics include:

~ We Will Remember and What is Grief?

~ Common Cliches and Dealing with Family & Friends

~ Am I Going Crazy? and Discussion of Feelings

~ Taking Care of Yourself

~ Reconciliation - Learning to live with your Losses

~ Saying Goodbye

Volunteer Hospice Services 
Volunteer visitors provide emotional and practical support to those with a life-threatening or terminal illness.  Volunteers are carefully screened, specially trained, caring, compassioante and dedicated individuals who offer their knowledge and experience to help both the client and his/her family through the disease process, treatment and outcome of the illness.

Hospice Palliative Care is one of the final and most precious gifts we can offer our loved ones.

Hospice provides:

  • Companionship through home visits
  • Respite care, to give at home caregivers a break
  • Emotional support for all loved ones
  • Telephone support, friendship, sharing and listening
  • Support for coping with change and loss
  • Ongoing bereavement support after the death of a loved one

                    Choice of care is the heart of Hospice Palliative Care.

Referrals are accpeted from individuals and family members, health and social agencies, physicians, nurses, clergy and others.
